Governor Ganduje Sacks Controversial Kano Project Director, Magaji Who Praised Taliban Takeover In Afghanistan

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has sacked the chairman of the state Gas pipeline project and gas industrialisation committee, Muazu Magaji, citing poor performance and insubordination.

This was made known on Monday in a statement, signed by the Commissioner for Information, Muhammed Garba, accusing Mr Magaji of not measuring “up with the challenging job, poor performance and insubordination.”

He noted that the Kano governor had hoped Mr Magaji, appointed in April 2020, would work diligently to supervising the effective execution of the NNPC/AKK project.

Magaji was accused of failing to live up to expectations in carrying out the responsibility assigned to him, to which the government had attached great premium.

“His leadership of the committee, amongst which is to coordinate, in close partnership with the NNPC on timely implementation of the project, has not been forthcoming to achieve the desired objective,” he noted.

The sacked NNPC/AKK chairman was directed to hand over the committee’s affairs to the deputy chairman, Aminu Babba-Dan‘Agundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba.

Muazu Magaji, former commissioner for works and infrastructure in Kano State who was suspended in 2020 by the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over “unguarded utterances” on the demise of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari had expressed joy over the  crisis rocking Afghanistan.

Magaji on his Facebook post celebrated the Taliban’s overthrow of the Afghan government in August. He described the developments in Afghanistan as a win-win.
He later deleted the post.
