Anambra Poll: How Election Didn’t Hold In Ihiala Local Council Area — Collation Officer

The collation officer for the Ihiala local government area of Anambra State, Ahmadu Umar has claimed there was no election in the area.

Umar stated this on Sunday while making a presentation after the result for Aguata local government area was declared. He, however, did not state why there was no election in Ihiala.

He said there are 148,407 registered voters in the LGA, adding that election didn’t take place in Ihiala.

There was a delay in the conduct of the Anambra State governorship election in the local government area of the state.

According to Vanguard, as of 1 pm on Saturday, election materials had yet to arrive in the local government area despite having 20 electoral wards.

It was learnt that anxious voters in the various polling units arrived early but were disappointed with the non-arrival of materials.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba, attributed the ugly development to logistical problems.

SaharaReporters had also reported the malfunctioning of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Bimodal System machines, BIVAS as well as the tense security situation on Saturday, which affected the turnout and smooth flow of the election.
