‘อาฒยา’เตรียมลุย ‘เอไอจี วีเมนส์ โอเพ่น’ ลุ้นแชมป์เมเจอร์สุดท้ายของปี
“โปรจีน”อาฒยา ฐิติกุล ยอดโปรกอล์ฟสาวไทย เตรียมลงสู้ศึก “เอไอจี วีเมนส์ โอเพ่น” เมเจอร์สุดท้ายของปี ชิงเงินรางวัลรวมสูงถึง 7.3 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ หรือประมาณ 255 ล้านบาท ประชันเหล่ามือท็อปของโลก ที่สนามวอลตันฮีธ กอล์ฟ คลับ พาร์ 71 ในเมืองเซอร์รี่ ทางตอนใต้ของกรุงลอนดอน ประเทศอังกฤษ ระหว่างวันที่ 10-13 สิงหาคมนี้
กอล์ฟรายการ “เอไอจี วีเมนส์ โอเพ่น” เมเจอร์สุดท้ายของปี เป็นเวทีประชันฝีมือของยอดนักกอล์ฟสาวจากทั่วโลก 144 คน ซึ่งรวมถึงเหล่านักกอล์ฟท็อป 50 ของโลก นำโดย โค จิน-ยอง มือหนึ่งของโลกจากเกาหลีใต้, เนลลี คอร์ดา มือสองของโลกจากสหรัฐฯ และ ลีเดีย โค มือสามของโลกจากนิวซีแลนด์ รวมถึง แอชลีห์ บูไฮ โปรสาวแอฟริกาใต้ จะลงป้องกันแชมป์ในการแข่งขันที่จะมีขึ้นในอีกสองสัปดาห์ข้างหน้า
ทั้งนี้ อาฒยา ฐิติกุล โปรสาวมือ 9 ของโลกวัย 20 ปี เคยได้สิทธิลงแข่งขัน เอไอจี วีเมนส์ โอเพ่น 3 ครั้ง สมัยที่ยังเป็นนักกอล์ฟสมัครเล่นในฐานะแชมป์วีเมนส์ อเมเจอร์ เอเชีย-แปซิฟิก 2018 และแชมป์เลดีส์ ยูโรเปี้ยน ทัวร์ ไทยแลนด์ แชมเปี้ยนชิพ สองสมัย พร้อมคว้ารางวัล สมิธ ซัลเวอร์ สองปีติดต่อกันในฐานะนักกอล์ฟสมัครเล่นที่ทำผลงานดีที่สุดในรายการ เอไอจี วีเมนส์ โอเพ่น เมื่อปี 2018 และ 2019 ในวัย 15 ปี และ 16 ปี ตามลำดับ
ในการแข่งขัน เอไอจี วีเมนส์ โอเพ่น เมื่อปีที่แล้ว โปรจีน-อาฒยา ฐิติกุล เป็นนักกอล์ฟชาวไทยที่ทำผลงานดีสุดด้วยอันดับ 7 ร่วม โดยแชมป์เป็นของ แอชลีห์ บูไฮ โปรกอล์ฟจากแอฟริกาใต้ ซึ่งเฉือนเพลย์ออฟชนะ ชอน อิน-จี จากเกาหลีใต้ หลังทั้งคู่จบด้วยสกอร์เท่ากันที่ 10 อันเดอร์พาร์ 274
ขณะที่ โปรเม-เอรียา จุฑานุกาล เป็นผู้เล่นชาวไทยคนแรกที่ครองแชมป์รายการนี้ได้ในปี 2016 ซึ่ง อาฒยา ได้กล่าวชื่นชมนักกอล์ฟรุ่นพี่ที่เป็นแรงบันดาลใจในการลงแข่งขันรายการนี้ว่า “ตอนที่เอรียาคว้าแชมป์เอไอจี วีเมนส์ โอเพ่น เป็นช่วงเวลาที่ยิ่งใหญ่มาก เพราะนั่นแสดงให้เห็นว่านักกอล์ฟสมัครเล่นอย่างฉันในขณะนั้น สามารถทำตามฝันของตัวเองได้”
นอกจากโปรจีน-อาฒยา และ โปรเม-เอรียา แล้ว ยังมีนักกอล์ฟสาวไทยที่มีโอกาสลงช่วงชิงแชมป์เมเจอร์สุดท้ายของปีครั้งนี้ อาทิ โปรเหมียว-ปภังกร ธวัชธนกิจ, โปรโม-โมรียา จุฑานุกาล, โปรเมียว-ปาจรีย์ อนันต์นฤการ และ จัสมิน สุวัณณะปุระ รวมถึง แพงกี้-แอลล่า แกลิทสกี้ นักกอล์ฟสมัครเล่นสาวทีมชาติไทย ที่ได้สิทธิแข่งขันรายการนี้เป็นครั้งแรก ในฐานะแชมป์กอล์ฟสมัครเล่นรายการ วีเมนส์ อเมเจอร์ เอเชีย-แปซิฟิก ที่สิงคโปร์ เมื่อต้นปีที่ผ่านมา
